These African hand-carved wooden Colonial figures from the Ivory Coast, represent an unusual mix of African and European cultures. They are sculptured with everyday people and their jobs in mind. African colonial figures have become hugely sort after.
Each piece of Colonial art is individually handcrafted so no two will be exactly the same. This style of art is a modern take of everyday living and can be made from small pieces to almost life size pieces.
There are no two men or woman alike and they stand on their own. They also come in a large variety of colors and they are all dressed in “colonial clothes.” The men either wear pith helmets (normally hand-carved by Christians) or Fez hats (mostly carved by Muslims.) These colonial figures are more striking in pairs or groups of 3 or more.
