Available styles
- Classic Thick Boerewors (Beef & Pork) — traditionally made and available in hog casing for a thicker, heartier bite reminiscent of sausages from South Africa.
- Beef-Only Boerewors — made with beef only and supplied in lamb casing; no pork in this variant.
- Curry-Flavored Boerewors — fragrant curry-spiced boerewors, sold in 1 lb vacuum-sealed bags. Available as beef-only in lamb casing or beef & pork in hog casing.
Casing notes
- Lamb casing: produces a thinner sausage with a more tender casing. Beef-only boerewors is offered in lamb casing.
- Hog casing: thicker and chewier, similar to traditional South African sausages; used for the classic beef & pork boerewors.
Ingredients
- Traditional blend: Coarsely ground beef or a beef/pork mix, seasoned with salt, spices & spice extracts (including celery), dextrose, MSG (E621), preservatives (sodium metabisulfite E223 / sulphur dioxide), antioxidant (sodium erythorbate E316), and Worcestershire sauce.
- Steve’s 5‑ingredient blend: Coarsely ground beef seasoned with salt, pepper, coriander, nutmeg, cloves, Worcestershire sauce, and white vinegar.
Cooking Instructions
Cook on a gas grill or in a pan until golden brown. Once you can break it by twisting it, it is fully cooked. Do not overcook it as it will get too dry.
